What Does “Doors Off First” vs. “Doors Off Last” Mean?

When containers are delivered on a roll-off truck it’s very important to know which way you want the doors to be facing at the point of delivery. The most common option is doors loaded towards the cab of the truck so they roll off last. This allows you to place the bulkhead end of the container up against a wall or a building.

Key points

  • Most customers request “doors loaded towards the cab of the truck — off last.”
  • Door direction is important because it’s time consuming and expensive to change later.
  • The container rolls off the back of the truck, so consider that when deciding door direction.

Doors off first vs doors off last

If you need the doors to roll off first, then the container needs to be loaded with them facing the rear of the trailer. Containers are big and heavy, so if we need to spin one around at delivery because the doors are facing the wrong way it’s very time consuming. You’ll also be charged for the driver’s time to fix the door direction, so it’s better to get it right on the front end.

Door direction is important because it’s difficult to spin your container around at delivery. Containers are big and heavy, so make sure to consider your door direction ahead of time to avoid delays and wait time charges at delivery.
