Are Shipping Containers Waterproof?
Shipping containers are built to withstand demanding outdoor and marine environments, but "waterproof" is not the best term for describing a used container's condition. For storage buyers, the more useful standard is Wind & Water Tight (WWT). A Wind & Water Tight container should prevent ordinary wind and water from entering through the roof, walls and doors when the container is closed. That does not mean a shipping container is permanently waterproof under every condition, nor does it mean moisture can never develop inside.
